2022 Perchance Sauvignon Blanc Beckstoffer Melrose Vineyard
Winemaker Mike Smith’s Tasting Notes:
In the glass, the wine sparkles with hints of light straw and a nearly imperceptible green hue attributable to the old vine retained natural acidity. When raised, it presents aromatics of lemon curd, key lime, white flowers, and freshly baked brioche. A full bodied mouthfeel cascades into a prolonged finish with inflections of tropical citrus and ripe stone fruit. Aged in the finest French oak Burgundy barrels-- which enhance both texture and layers of flavor, the wine exhibits a youthful acidity followed by waves of nectarine, honey, mature pineapple, and melon. The impeccably ripened fruit is present throughout the mid-palate with remarkable flavor and texture, which then flows into a perfectly balanced finish emblematic of a classic Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The brilliance of this wine is how it harmoniously integrates and expresses exceptional terroir, extraordinary old vines, and meticulous craftsmanship. It will drink nicely now, but also can be aged for 5-7 years (even longer in cold cellars), to bring out its underlying complexities and more hidden nuances.
